The Riverside Youth Judo Club is dedicated to Service in the Community. In 2016, we decided to host a Charity judo tournament. We chose Breast & Ovarian Cancer relief as our Cause. We decided that the tournament should focus on Female competitors and our Male judo folks could support the cause as referees, coaches, poolers, scorers, and other various assignments.
Our 1st “Fight for the Cure” Breast & Ovarian Cancer Judo Tournament was held in October 2016. The tournament was relatively small at about 100 female competitors. 100% of all funds raised were donated to our community charity, The Pink Ribbon Place (a charitable organization with the Riverside Community Health Foundation). We raised $5,000.00 the first year!
In October 2017, we were able to bring in 150 female competitors. Dr.AnnMaria De Mars hosted a clinic for us which was amazing! We were able to raise $10,000.00 for The Pink Ribbon Place at this event!
